In my previous blog, I shared a little secret about finding a tranquil slice of heaven in the shade of the Beamsville Bench wine appellation of Niagara! As much as I try, simple words can never truly convey The Good Earth Food and Wine Co. 'experience' ... but pictures speak volumes.
If you've never been to The Good Earth or met Nicolette Novak, it's an experience you must put on your 'to do' list when in Niagara!
I hope you enjoy this little visual 'taste' of The Good Earth as captured at Bronwen + Mark's wedding this June.

If you've never been to The Good Earth or met Nicolette Novak, it's an experience you must put on your 'to do' list when in Niagara! The Good Earth is not merely a place to visit ... it is something to be experienced. A tranquil slice of heaven in the shade of the Beamsville Bench wine appellation of Niagara!
This weekend, Bronwen + Mark and their guests had a glorious chance to 'experience' the Good Earth for themselves! The couple were married amongst the vast gardens on the property and later celebrated in upscale garden party fashion with delicious delectables including wood-fired roasted pork and ... an oyster bar!
Side note ... Bronwen is the daughter of Rodney Clark of Toronto's famed Rodney's Oyster House.
Working with an organic and natural feeling green and white palette, we designed our pieces for Bronwen + Mark using flowers such as peonies, roses, hydrangea and viburnum. We 'garnished' our pieces with various cuttings from our organic gardens here at the Studio ... including lady's mantle, astilbe, fern fronds, mulberry springs and oregano. Elements included birch logs, cork vessels, wrought iron Shepherd's Hooks and glass Mason jardinieres!
There's nothing quite like an early summer outdoor winery wedding in Niagara ... you have to experience it for yourself!
Welcome to the Good Earth Food and Wine Company ...

Browen's bouquet … featuring peonies, pieris and japanese painted ferns and wrapped in a gorgeous silvery-blue-pewter satin ribbon.

Coordinating bridesmaid's bouquet ... slight more petite and with a darker ribbon.

Our custom-made Shepherd's Hooks have turned out to be quite a hit amongst our brides this year!

Isn't she angelic? I think I say this about every flower girl!

Here comes the bride!

We created tablescapes of flowers for the 32 foot long mission-style seating arrangements ...

Four of these little cloches marked the tables ... apples, grapes, pears and mulberries!

We cozied up one of the garden seating areas with these birch log lantern standards ...

We fell in love with the dramatic romance of red wedding flowers all over again this past weekend! We like to call it ... Passion.
Krista + Scott enlisted us to design their wedding flowers in shades of deep red, burgundy and raspberry. It was an intimate affair (just 50 or 60 guests), but Krista wanted us to make a statement with tall and distinct pieces. The reception was held in the Vintner's Cellar at Inn on the Twenty ... we love it when we can work with an interesting space! If you ever get the chance, be sure to take in the 19th century brick cistern turned wine cellar that is adjacent the Vintner's Cellar ... kinda creepy/cool.
To achieve the drama Krista + Scott required, we used some equally dramatic flowers ... including mokara and cymbidium orchids, nerine lilies, protea, anthurium and aralia leaves and some really amazing red hydrangea blooms!
It was wonderful to be a part of Krista + Scott's celebration … cheers and best wishes to you!
Setting the stage ... here's an idea of the colour / texture palette we were working with ... can't get enough of those gorgeous garden roses!

The bride’s bouquet … definitely one of our favourites so far this year!

We created a couple of these giant arrangements for the wedding ceremony at the Vineyard Retreat and then transferred them on to a couple of wine barrels at the Vintner's Cellar ... they looked unbelievably amazing in the room!

We were excited to debut our new custom-made wrought iron 'trees' for Krista + Scott's centerpieces ... talk about dramatic! For this incarnation of the 'trees', the branches dripped with panicles of red Mokara Orchids and candlelight.

Probably the most dramatic feature of the day were these two massive curly willow trees we designed for the lobby and bar areas of the cellar. Each of the 'trees' was over 6 feet tall and 3 - 4 feet across and dripped with orchids and glass lanterns to compliment the table centerpieces.

Meaghan + John currently reside in Boston and made Niagara-on-the-Lake their destination wedding location this past weekend!
After tying the knot at St. Vincent de Paul on Queen's Parade in lovely downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake, Meaghan + John invited their guests to celebrate with them in the Grand Georgian Ballroom at Queen's Landing just around the corner! The two venues are so close, the bulk of the guests simply walked the one block in the shade of the beautiful overhead tree canopy!
For Meaghan + John's reception, we designed natural, elegant romantic tablescapes that were full and flowery. The room was loaded with peonies, viburnum, bells of Ireland, white and green hydrangeas, snapdragons, delphiniums and other green and white gardeny flowers.
The traditional round table setup was bypassed in favour of long mission-style tables, oversized mirrors and gorgeous green-on-green linens which tied everything together just perfectly!
Congratulations and best wishes to Meaghan + John ... it was so much fun to be part of your special day!
Meaghan's gorgeous bride's bouquet …

The coordinating bridesmaid's bouquet ...

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church played host to the couple's nuptials ... a very interesting 'starry night' painting on the domed cathedral ceiling above the altar.

The head table was loaded with candlelight and flowers in glass vessels of varying sizes and heights ...

For the wedding reception, we created 'tablescapes' using glass and mono-botanical florals giving a stately, clean and elegant feel to the room!

It was another busy, but exciting weekend of weddings in the VDC Studio!!! It's so great that we get to celebrate so many love stories ... each one is unique and yet there is always a tie that binds.
This weekend, Laura + Blake were married outdoors on the banks of the mighty Niagara River at Navy Hall in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was a windy, but beautifully clear and hot day ... better than the severe thunderstorms that were originally forecast!
Laura's colour palette was Forest with a touch of Breeze featuring shades of white, ivory, green, grey and purple ... a definite modern vintage look!
The pewter centrepiece vessels contained 'vintage' blooms such as hydrangeas, roses, berzillia, 'Silver Dollar' eucalyptus and even some sprigs of mint and heuchera from our own organic cutting gardens!
We wish many blessings on Laura + Blake as they begin their marriage adventure ... cheers!
Laura's bridal bouquet ...

At the front of the ceremony site, you could look across the Niagara River and see Youngstown, New York!

We got to debut some of our new earthy stoneware containers ... our new faves!

Laura was accompanied down the aisle by her brother ... a sweet family affair!

You can definitely see the modern vintage flair in these centrepieces!

Just love these antique hydrangeas ... mmmmm!
