We love what we do ... and it shows!

I went out to get the mail this morning and found this little note from Melissa, one of our 2010 brides ... "We are so excited to have you as our florist. You blew us away with your creativity and obvious passion for flowers!"

Creativity and artistry are the essence of what we do and it's so great to receive feedback like Melissa's letting us know that it's shining through in every aspect of our work. We love what we do ... and it shows!

I hope it's sunny where you are!

Best Wedding Bouquets of 2009 featuring 'Breeze'

The third installment of our 'Best Wedding Bouquets of 2009' features our 'Breeze' colour palette. Breeze features purple in a variety of shades including grape, blueberry and violet with accents of cranberry and champagne.

Next to Glow, Breeze was probably our most popular wedding color palette in 2009. Enjoy the pics!

Amanda + Adam's Niagara Falls wedding took place in September at Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. Their colour palette featured royal purple, including a variety of shades of purple, black, white and accents of burgundy … a modern ‘Old World’ feel.



Kara + Bryan were married on a beautiful October Saturday afternoon and celebrated their Niagara on the Lake winery wedding at Hillebrand Estates Winery!




The Breeze inspired flowers matched Kara's bridesmaids dresses perfectly!



Jen + Matt's Niagara winery wedding was celebrated at Hernder Estate Winery in late October.




Jessica + Neil's Niagara vineyard wedding in June was full of old world charm and modern vintage cues.


We loved incorporating this little button detail and the vintage family jewelry.

Best Wedding Bouquets of 2009 featuring 'Glow'

Here's the long awaited second installment of the 'Best Wedding Bouquets of 2009 ... this time we're featuring the 'Glow' colour palette.

Glow was an extremely popular palette in 2009 and we can already see that it'll be popular in 2010 as well. Enjoy!

Glow is a colour palette that we first introduced in 2008. Glow features sunny and mellow yellow in various shades from lemon to vanilla.

Our friend and Niagara wedding photographer extraordinaire, Nataschia Wielink, shot Heather and Joseph's Niagara wedding ... we love these pics so much! Heather is just stunning ... and that beautiful 'Glow' themed bridal bouquet ain't so bad either!




Maris + Michael's Niagara nuptials were celebrated at the gorgeous Ridley College Chapel on a perfect late Saturday morning in May! These are Maris' bride and bridesmaid's bouquets ...



Stephanie + Marcus were wed out in the vineyard among the grape rows where some of Cave Spring Winery’s best vintages are grown!




An assortment of bridal bouquets, bridesmaid's bouquets and even a cute little flower girl's 'basket' ... all in 'Glow'.

Vintage Hotels Wedding Show 2010

Brides mark your calendars and join us at the annual Vintage Hotels Wedding Show on Sunday, February 21, 2010. The Vintage Inns Wedding Show is the only wedding show we're doing in 2010!

We do a ton of Niagara-on-the-Lake weddings each season and aside from meeting new clients at the show, an important part of the day for us is connecting with the many Niagara wedding professionals, artists and vendors that we're proud to be associated with!

So long 2009 ...

Well folks, that's it for 2009 and the first decade of this century. I also can’t believe we’re already entering our 10th year of business ... craziness!

Despite the ‘economic downturn’, 2009 was a really great year and we're so glad to have had you all along for the ride! It's amazing to look back over this year and see how many wonderful love stories we've had the privilege of sharing in!

I also want to acknowledge the whole VDC crew for their part in making 2009 as successful as it was ... thanks especially to Jen, Heidi and Mark!!! You guys are my core, my inner circle ... I so enjoy creating with each of you!

There are also some amazing moments that I’ll take with me from this year. One such moment was receiving word that we’d won the Canadian Wedding Industry Award for 2008 Floral Designer of the Year! Canada’s wedding industry is filled with amazingly talented floral artists ... we are so incredibly honoured to represent our industry on their behalf.

Another thing that I’ll remember about this year is all the blogging. I’m continually amazed at the readership of this little photo blog. Over the year, we’ve watched hits jump from about 1200 a month to over 15,000 a month! Who knew our floral adventures would be so interesting to anyone else but us!

On a more personal level, I think I’ll remember 2009 as the year we concentrated really hard on the ‘work - life’ balancing act. For too long it’s been a little heavy on the work and not enough of the living going on. I’m happy that the scales are tipping to the middle a little more these days.

We're currently busy booking up for 2010 and looking forward to sharing more exciting wedding moments with you in the days and weeks that lie ahead. So, if it's winter where you are, I hope you're keeping cozy ...
